Community Engagement

20th Year, 20 Acts of Service

For 20 years, we’ve grown and thrived in part thanks to the love and support of our local community. So it is our mission to give back! Each year we have a service committee that puts together activities and opportunities for our employees to give back to our local community. This year, our goal is to perform at least 20 charitable acts throughout the community.

Back to School Donations

About 15 million children live in extreme poverty in America — or about 21% of all children — and school supplies are yet another burden.

Donate to your local school!

Tabitha's Way

According to Feeding America an estimated 100,000 individuals in Utah County are facing food insecurity; 1 in 5 children are hungry and lack proper nutrition. Tabitha's Way is a food pantry that serves our local community. 50% of its recipients are children.

Do you have a food pantry in your neighborhood that you can assist?

United Way

Another service project to help us hit our 20 for the year! We cut out shapes for United Way to help their Help Me Grow department. This activity is to help toddlers learn their colors, shapes, and patterns.

How can you serve your community this week?

Tying Felt Blankets

We tied felt blankets for our local NICU unit which takes new baby blankets.

Reach out to your local NICU to see if they take blankets.

Sensory Toys

Help Me Grow Utah envisions a vibrant community in which families have the desire, resources, and confidence to make the best decisions during pregnancy and for their child’s development and future. We made some sensory toys for children to learn fine motor skills.

Travel Bags for Foster Care

Too often, children have only a few moments to collect their belongings when they join the foster care system. During this majorly disruptive period in their life, they might not have anything to carry their belongings in. That's why foster cares are always looking for bags!

Reach out to your local foster care services to see if they are in need of suitcases.

Donations to Ukraine

Much of the world has come together in support of the Ukrainian people, and the need is great. Acumen Learning leadership decided to match the donations of employees for whatever charitable groups we decided to support.

We take inspiration from those working tirelessly to lift some of this great burden.

If you'd like to donate yourself to support World Central Kitchen's Chefs for Ukraine, you can do so here.

Donations for Teachers

According to a Department of Education survey, 94% of American public school teachers reported paying for school supplies out of their own pocket in the 2014-15 school year. Those teachers spent an average of $479. We wanted to show our appreciation to our local elementary school, Orem Elementary.

If you feel so motivated, contact your local schools and see how you can help!

Refugee Girl Scout Troop

One of our local troops includes girls from refugee and underserved populations and girls in our homeless resource centers. Girl Scouts learn teamwork, planning, and how to have a positive outlook.
